Public parks and recreation areas in Cunnamulla will benefit from the next stage of a recycled water project.
Stage 3 of Paroo Shire Council's new irrigation system would be installed this month, which will make local parks and facilities more useable.
Once installed, the centrally automated irrigation system will provide the Cunnamulla Cemetery, Apex Park and Bushland Park with a new source of nourishment.
The pipelines will allow river water and, in the future, treated recycled non-potable water to be used in these areas as well as other community facilities.
The Bligh Government provided council with funding of $276,966 towards stage 3 which has an estimated total project cost of $307,740.
Other areas in Cunnamulla including the Cunnamulla streetscape, John Kerr Park, Cunnamulla bowls club, swimming pool, Centenary Park, shire hall and shire office have been using the irrigation system since February 2009 when stages 1 and 2 came on line.
