SOUTH Australian Democrat David Winderlich says the government should ban the installation of new pools and spas until the drought breaks.
The MP says demand for pools and spas has not dropped during dry times, with more than 2,500 installed in 2008.
Winderlich says pools and spas are a luxury Australians can’t afford to indulge in while many livelihoods are affected by drought.
According to the MP, the government would have to agree to support the pool and spa industry financially until it is socially responsible to install new equipment again.
