Pyrmont Park judged as Australia’s best public urban landscape project

CEMENT Concrete & Aggregates Australia (CCAA) says the new park on the former Water Police site at Pyrmont has been judged Australia’s best public urban landscape project.

According to CCAA, the park was named Best Overall Project at its 2009 Public Domain Awards. Designed by landscape architects ASPECT Studios and constructed by Ford Civil Contractors for the City of Sydney, the winning project was also named Best Project for NSW and joint winner in the Precincts Category.

CCAA says the national Public Domain Awards have been running since 1996 and are held every two years to recognise the innovative and functional use of concrete to enhance the public domain.

The entries were said to be judged on functional performance, aesthetics, economy, durability, construction, traffic management or calming, sustainability, and the overall significance of the works in relation to the public domain.
