FEDERAL Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Anthony Albanese says work has begun on a purpose-built performance stage in Glebe Park as well as shading for the children's play area.
According to the Minister, the new outdoor stage will be a high-quality community facility for live music, drama performances and community events. The eight-by-five metre stage will be shaded and include power and lighting, with works scheduled for completion late-2009.
Albanese says the Federal Government is providing $600,000 for the Glebe Park works through its Economic Stimulus Plan. The ACT Government is also investing $1.6m for Glebe Park pavement upgrades, with works scheduled to be completed by mid-2010.
