DesignBUILD Expo Sydney unveils bushfire proof window and door sealing system

DESIGNBUILD Expo Sydney will unveil the latest fire protection solutions at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre on 21 to 23 May 2009.

According to DesignBUILD, the expo is set to be the biggest and most industry-focused building exhibition to date, and the demand for fire protection solutions continues to grow in the wake of Victoria’s bushfires.

David Richardson, national marketing manager for Trend Windows and Doors says windows and doors are vulnerable to fire damage.

‘Windows and doors are considered the areas in the home most susceptible to bushfire damage. Many houses destroyed in a blaze in fact survive the passing of the fire only to burn down later from flying embers,’ says Richardson.

‘With its Patented Van Door and Pyro-Protec sealing systems, a breakthrough technology in fire protection, the Xtreme Window and Door System not only protects the home against air infiltration but prevents dangerous debris entering the building.’

Tested by CSIRO and Bushfire CRC, the new Xtreme Window and Door System is said to withstand heat flux of up to 40kW/m2 by combining the Quantum XP Window system with Pyro-Protec seals and 5/6mm standard toughened glass, Trend Windows and Doors.

Steve Horsley, exhibition manager for DesignBUILD Sydney says the Xtreme Window and Door System is essential in the Australian bushfire prone climate.

‘Although we can never completely eliminate the threat of fire, there are some remarkably innovative products entering the market that can prevent loss and help save businesses, homes and lives. The Xtreme Window and Door System is just one of many I’m sure we’ll see on show at DesignBUILD Sydney this year.’
