NSW Minister for Water, Phil Costa, is encouraging garden lovers to plant natives this spring, saving water and money.
Minister Costa said Sydney Water’s online plant selector is a free online tool that allows gardeners to download advice on the plants that are best suited to their soil type and location.
"Australian natives are hardy, drought resistant and need less water," Costa said.
The personalised watering advice service Love Your Garden, was designed to help people use water wisely in the garden.
"Our research shows that most gardens receive more water than they need.
"For just $33, residents can have a Love Your Garden Service qualified horticulturist visit their home and prepare a personalised watering plan taking into account soil type, sunlight and shade, plant selection and local rainfall patterns.
"The watering plan helps householders make ongoing water reductions by teaching them how much water their gardens need and how to adjust the amount of water used to account for the season and recent rainfall.
