BENEDICT Industries says its GlassSand is a minus 4.75mm sand made from recycled glass waste normally destined for landfill.
According to the company, GlassSand can be used as a sand replacement in pre-mix concrete and consists of well graded, angular, hard, durable inert particles which allow for compaction and drainage.
Benedict says GlassSand can be used for applications like asphalt and concrete production, pipe embedment, levelling sand under concrete slabs, bedding pavers and garden slabs. It can also be used for back filling around storm water and behind retaining walls.
Benedict claims up to 150,000t of glass per year destined for landfill will be recycled to produce GlassSand.
