The Australian Institute of Landscape Designers & Managers (AILDM) will be holding a seminar for landscape designers and contractors March 9.
Speakers will include:
Tim Entwisle, Royal Botanic Gardens, Sydney – The World’s Best Botanic Garden
What is a botanic garden and what makes a great one? Executive director of Sydney’s Botanic Gardens Trust, Entwisle, will tour the world illustrating some of the great, and not so great, botanic gardens. He will show examples where botanic gardens do not inspire visitors about plants, and why other gardens do it better. Along the way learn a little about the history of botanic gardens and why they are important to us today.
Craig Rich, Alpine Nurseries – Grafted Eucalypts and their successful use in the landscape
Rich will provide a hands on look at grafted Eucalypts showing the range of varieties available. He will also discuss some of the cultural issues landscapers need to be aware of when planting and maintaining them.
The Rural Fire Service – Landscaping in a bushfire prone area
A member of the Rural Fire Service will share the principles of landscaping properties for bushfire protection, vegetation management and how to maintain property.
