Paddington Gardens takes out AILA award

Paddington Reservoir Gardens has been awarded the 2009 Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA) NSW Medal in Landscape Architecture.

The project was designed by JMD Design in association with Tonkin Zulaikha Greer and the City of Sydney.

The Medal in Landscape Architecture is the highest awarded project in the state and is chosen as the leading project over four categories: design; planning; land management; and research and communication.

Other Design projects to receive recognition were:
- Ballast Point designed by McGregor Coxall
- Camperdown Public Domain by Turf Design Studio, Jeppe Aagaard Andersen and Tinka Sack
- Redfern Park Upgrade by Spackman Mossop Michaels

"The Paddington Reservoir Gardens, like all good poetry, fills the heart and nourishes the soul. It is a ‘touchstone’ for urban design and place making – not just in its execution but in the creative process of the design collaboration," says Gay Williamson, jury chair.

A total of 15 awards will be presented at the national awards presentation.
