ECO Bag Industries says its Eco Bag Water Saving Device is an automatic tree and plant drip and fertilising system that saves water, prevents evaporation and stops weed growth.

The company says the Eco Bag is suitable for the establishment of young trees in drought-affected areas or those with water restrictions.

The Eco Bag is a 20L capacity UV plastic bag which gives coverage of half a square metre around the base of the plant. This coverage prevents moisture evaporation and stops weeds from competing for water at the base of the plant. The Eco Bag’s capillary wick drips water into the roots of the shrub or tree at a rate of one litre every 24 hours. The bag can be filled with soluble fertiliser for a slow release boost.

Eco Bag Industries says the product provides a home for earthworms, where they cultivate the soil in the cool shade of the plastic. The trees also benefit from the insulation.

The Eco Bag can be used in the domestic garden. Gardeners can make a shallow depression for the bag and cover it with light mulch or wood chips so it is out of sight.
