ELMICH says it’s VersiCell and VersiDrain landscape drainage products can be used in the construction of either intensive or extensive green roofs.

According to Elmich, green roofs are partially or completely covered with a growing medium and vegetation. Positioned over a waterproofing membrane with irrigation systems the green roofs can be categorised as either intensive or extensive.

VersiCell is a light, modular drainage cell designed for sub-surface drainage and waterproofing membrane protection. Made from high strength polypropylene its modules can interlock in the same plane, at right angles or may be butted together.

Intensive green roofs feature irrigation with a wide variety of shrubs, grass and tree species on slopes on an incline less than 3%. For this landscaping feature Elmich recommends its Evalon root resistant waterproofing membrane and VersiCell drainage cells.

Elmich says extensive green roofs include a landscaped area featuring minimal irrigation with hardy, low growing plant and ground cover species on slopes less than 30%. For this application, its VersiDrain 25P is suitable as it both retains and allows excess water to drain away in extensive green roof systems.

VersiCell sheets are available as 20mm and 30mm high modules.
