OZBREED says blaze or dianella tasmanica is a new addition to its line of strappy leaf landscape gardening plants.
According to Ozbreed, blaze requires little care or maintenance and is suitable for roadsides, mass planting and gardens. It also can develop true purperea coloured foliage depending on where it is in Australia.
The company says in Sydney the plant colours from early autumn through to the end of September and in cold climates it can have the purperea foliage for most of the year.
Blaze turns green in summer to better handle the heat and produces deep purple berries in spring or summer. It grows to around 40cm in height and width.
Ozbreed says blaze grows well in full sun and light to heavy shade.
